PTA

St Edward’s PTA is a group of enthusiastic parents and teachers who are committed to working with the school to raise its profile. We meet on a 4-6 weekly basis, at the school, for an informal discussion about ways of raising funds and how best these funds can be used to benefit all the children of the school. We have an open door policy, and everyone is welcome to join us at these PTA meetings, we are always grateful to all who contribute whatever the level of commitment.

The typical annual PTA diary encompasses events that everyone can get involved with, the boys themselves run stalls at the school fete, design Christmas cards and always spend their hard earned pocket money at the end of term chocolate tombola. Then there are the events where the whole family can get involved with events like sports day, the cross county and the summer fete. Lastly we run events for purely parents (and teachers) such as the famous Curry & Quiz night, wine tasting evenings, Virgin Vie make up parties and fashion show to mention but a few. Additionally other parents run fund raising initiatives alongside the PTA events, enabling us to pull resources and funds from varying areas. As you can see we try to cater for everyone at some point during the school year yet we are always open to suggestions as to how we can involve more of the school community in these activities. Whatever the event it is always imperative, that at all times, everyone has fun during these activities and we find they always bring, all involved with the school, closer together, helping to create a real community atmosphere.

In the past the funds raised have been used to purchase specific items needed by the school such as a mini-bus, musical instruments and computer equipment. It is our aim this year to provide the school with sufficient funds for them to create a playground area with climbing equipment. With this in mind we need to work hard to achieve this for the boys and appeal to the whole of the St Edward’s community to help us reach this goal.

To keep the community abreast of events a regular newsletter is produced and circulated however it is always worth keeping an eye on the notice board where forthcoming events are advertised.
