A visit from the Mayoress of Reading.

Pre-Prep

Boys generally enter the Pre-Prep the September after their fourth birthday. In the Pre-Prep there is normally one intake per year. however job relocations mean that places sometimes become vacant during a year.

Prep School

Boys usually join the Prep School at 7 in year three. There are, however, sometimes places in other year groups vacated by families relocating because of job moves.

Prospective pupils visit the school for part of a morning to undertake a series of short tests which enable us to ensure that pupil and school are compatible.

Academic scholarships are offered at year 3 and 7. In addition, new pupils entering the school between these age groups may also be eligible for an award.

Admission Policy

Pupils are admitted to St. Edward's School without prejudice as to race, colour or creed. One of the senior staff will interview the child prior to entry. This may take the form of a visit to the school and/or some short tests in order that the school may ensure that there is a good 'fit' between child and school.

The Headmaster will then decide whether or not to offer a place.
